SURRENDER A CAT

NOTE: WE DO NOT TAKE FERAL (WILD) CATS OR KITTENS.

SURRENDERING A CAT TO CLASSY CATS

Making the decision to rehome your pet is a difficult one. Classy Cats will do everything we can to accommodate your needs. Please complete the surrender form and attach a current photograph for the quickest response. We can only take a cat if we have an open foster space and the funds for medical and general care. If we cannot help we will try to refer you to another rescue.

SURRENDER PROCESS

Animals are scheduled by appointment only for intake evaluations. This includes a brief behavior assessment and a health assessment. This is to ensure your pet is going to do well in a shelter environment and that staff & volunteers will be able to safely handle them while in our care.

Kittens over 8 weeks old are required to have the first round FVRCP vaccination and be tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS before coming to our facility. Cats and kittens over 3 months old are required to have FVRCP & feline leukemia vaccinations and be tested for feline leukemia and feline AIDS.

If the medical requirements are not met prior to your appointment a $40 surrender fee will apply. Medical records will be reviewed at the time of surrender. Surrender appointments usually take about 30 minutes.

We do not provide a pick-up service. Once your appointment is scheduled, please bring your animal and medical records in at that time.

RETURN A CLASSY CAT

Animals returning to Classy Cats, unless adopted recently, go through the same intake evaluation process as do new animals. Complete the surrender form, include a recent photograph of your pet, and your request will be answered via email. We always accept our cats back.
Previous adopters who have questions about behavior or general questions about their cat, please use the Contact Us form.
